I love decorating our house for Christmas! In the past it looked like a festive bomb went off in every room. However, I’ve taken medication to cure my decorating bug and gone with less. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still something in almost every room (my husband’s office is off limits!), but it’s tastefully done! You’ll even find something in the loo. 🙂
Recently, we did a Christmas purge (gasp!) and threw some decorations out. However, there are some I just can’t part with. Each decoration has some type of tradition or memory attached to it. I have one special tree decorated with mostly ornaments either made by my mom or they were hers. I call it Mama’s Tree and it sits on the nightstand in the bedroom. It has to go up every year because it brings a little bit of Mom’s cheerfulness to our home. The stockings hanging on the mantel were made by Mom. Or ornaments she gave us throughout the years.
These are decorations I can’t throw out.
They hold too many memories and make each Christmas special.
How about you? I’m sure I’m not alone. What memories do your decorations hold? Share with us.
A Christmas to Remember (Amy Grant)
