Do you remember playing in the snow as a child? Making snow angels? Sliding? I do. We had so much fun on our little backyard hill. Dad also made a small rink for us to skate on. Such fun!
I wanted to share my latest painting project because it reminds me of fun winter days. Do we take them for granted? Do we wish the season away too fast?
When I look at this painting a few thoughts come to mind.
Painting relaxes me. We have too many stresses in life. Relationships, finances, jobs, health issues, etc. How do we release the stress? I do it through painting and writing. I love to pick up my paintbrush and get lost in bringing a picture to life or creating a scene in my novel that grips me until I finish it. What’s your outlet? We all need one.
The details make the picture pop! To create the finest details of this scene, I had to use my liner. It helped bring clarity and life to every inch of this winter wonderland. It made me think about how the small things in life are very important. They bring a smile to our face. Let’s remember this!
To have FUN!  Life is too stressful and we need to take moments to just have fun. How about we do something we haven’t done in years? Make a snow angel, build a snowman or fort, or how about a snowball fight? Wanna join me? Let’s go!
This winter why don’t we look for the child in each of us. Go back to our childhood and the simpler things in life. If we do, I believe it will relieve some of our stress!

Wow Dar you are so so gifted. My newest way of distressing…I find an alone place and I close my eyes and I just sit quietly and I ask God to hold me. HE DOES!!!! It is incredible the journey I have been on and have completely and totally found God!!!!! He truly does meet all of my needs!!!

We don’t get a lot if snow here in the south, but when it did we enjoyed every minute we could. Writing is a definite stress relief for me. If my stress level is too high riding my stationary bike or walking on my treadmill does the trick. Great post, Dar. You made me reflect back to those cold days in the snow when I was a child!

Beautiful winter picture, Darlene. You are so talented, like your Mom and our Grandmother Hubley. My grandaughter and I just spent the morning at the warm therapy pool at the Civic Centre in Sussex where she is learning to swim. To be beside the wall of windows and so cozy, warm inside made me think we were in Florida. Who needs a plane ticket south to have fun! It was very relaxing!

I really enjoyed this, Aunt Darlene. Your painting is incredible! Winter is definitely my least favorite season of the year ha as I hate the cold weather but you reminded me of all the fun activities and memories made only in the winter months! Yoga & reading are my favorite ways to release stress.

Such a beautiful painting Darlene!! I remember very fondly those days of sliding down your backward hill!! What great times we had. I was just telling my youngest, David, last week about all the fun we had sliding and skating; building forts. We couldn’t wait to get out of school and be outside playing in the snow!! My go to de-stressers are yoga, reading, and believe it or not, house cleaning with the music playing LOUD!! haha. It is so nice to be able to connect with you through FB.
