From My Playlist – Steppin’ Out In Faith

Suzy stepped onto the ice, clinging to her mother’s hand. “Mommy, don’t let go.”

The six-year-old remained frozen in one spot. She whimpered as she stared at her skates.

Her mother nudged her forward. “Come on, Suzy. You’ve been wanting to do this for weeks now.”

“I’m scared.”

“It’s all you’ve been talking about. You can do it.”

“What if I fall?”

“I will help pick you up.”

“Will it hurt?”

“Maybe, but you can trust that I’ll be right by your side.”

Suzy’s eyes brightened. “Really?”

Her mother nodded.

Suzy took a breath and inched her skate forward, stepping out in faith.

Have you ever had a dream you wanted so bad, but you held back because you were scared you’d fall flat on your face? Or you were almost there, but just needed a bit more encouragement to keep going?

We can all nod our heads to those questions, I’m sure.

Sometimes we’re asked to do something within our family, church, or work circles, but we hold back because we doubt ourselves. We think we don’t have what it takes to finish the task. We say that someone else would do it better.

Could that be the father of lies whispering in our ears?

I think so. He is the author of doubt. Not Jesus.

Don’t you think it’s time we stepped out in faith?

Yes, we may stumble.

Yes, we may fall.

But His promises will stand firm.

He. Will. Not. Leave. Us.

How about we take that first step and cling to the Father’s hand?

He’ll be with us all the way!

What step of faith is the Lord asking you to do today? Share with us so we can pray!

Proverbs 3:5&6 (NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding

In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Steppin’ Out in Faith (written by Jim and Melissa Brady)

Jim Brady has stepped out in faith and started a new chapter with The Jim Brady Trio. Below is the first cut off their new CD, A New Chapter.

Here’s the chorus (used with permission by Jim Brady).

Powerful words! Thanks Jim and Melissa for penning a beautiful song of our Savior’s love for us!

I’m steppin’ out in faith

I’m walking on the water

Trusting in the Father

Knowing He’ll be with me all the way

I’m steppin’ out in faith

Though winds will blow against me

I will claim the victory

Resting in His all sufficient grace

I’m steppin’ out, steppin’ out in faith.

The Lord’s asking me to step out in faith on the goals and plans he showed during my vision day a couple of weeks ago. They’re in the areas of spiritual, family, community, and writing.
Prayers appreciated because it’s so easy to let them slip.

So true, my friend! Stepping out in faith is a day by day choice. And today, I choose to do so. Thanks for the reminder, the challenge, the vignette, and the great song.

You’re right. It’s definitely a choice. Daily and moment by moment!
