Trial Run by Thomas Locke

—What you don’t know can kill you.

Have you ever found yourself daydreaming? Totally lost in another reality? You’re not alone.

Dr. Gabriella Speciale and her team transcend into a realm where time and space collide without meaning.

Until one of their own doesn’t return.

Suddenly everything changes and Gabriella and her protector, Charlie, must find out why one of their team remains unconscious. What happened on his ascent?

In the meantime, Reese Clawson’s experiments into the human consciousness are going horribly wrong. Her project will be shut down if this last ditch effort doesn’t work.

The key to both of these teams resides in the dreams of one brilliant grad student. But which team can Trent Major trust? And, are his nightmares the key to their survival or downfall?

Otrial runnly time will tell.

Trial Run is book one in the Fault Lines series by Thomas Locke (pseudonym for Davis Bunn). (Note: If you want a prequel to Trial Run, you can download Double Edge for free. ) I’m going to admit up front that I don’t know what to think of this book. I found the beginning hard to get into. It was confusing going from character to character.

This book really didn’t draw me in until half way. Maybe it’s because I found the concept hard to understand. Not sure. However, Mr. Locke is a gifted storyteller and writer. The characters are solid. The writing is good. I kept reading to find out what happened.

And . . . I do want to see where Mr. Locke takes it in book 2. So, in the end, he does have me hooked!

I give Trial Run three ascends (or is that transits)?

Just beware . . . what happens in the alternate reality may not always stay there!
