A Fool & His Monet
By Sandra Orchard
Everyone loves a good mystery and FBI Special Agent Serena Jones’ quirky Aunt Martha is no exception. It seems her aunt is a regular Jessica Fletcher. If only Serena can keep her out of harm’s way and “helping” in the investigation of the stolen Monet from a local museum, she’d be able to keep her blood pressure at normal levels.
But that would prove to be impossible.
After a successful undercover arrest with the FBI Art Crime Team, Serena dives into the Monet mystery and interviews the museum’s employees, discarding some as suspects right away. One is at the top on her list, but her boss orders her to back off. Confused, she continues her investigation, but threads keep leading back to her first suspect. And now . . . she has the sneaking suspicion someone is watching her.
Can Serena solve this mystery while keeping herself and Aunt Martha out of danger? Or will the thief get away and the Monet be lost forever?

Sandra Orchard has done it again! Given us another excellent read. A Fool & His Monet is book one in her new Serena Jones Mystery series. It’s a grand start to what’s shaping out to be a fun, entertaining, and, yes, laugh-out-loud (for you social media people—LOL!) series.
I absolutely loved all the characters in this book. I gotta say my favorite was Aunt Martha. She’s so much fun and the fact that she has an alleged mobster for a ‘boyfriend’ is the best! Even Harold the cat came alive on paper. Kudos to Ms. Orchard for a job well done on her characterization. I also loved how she threw in using the “word of the day” from a character. Clever!
The twists and turns of the plot with the subplot of her grandfather’s mysterious death intertwined, leaves the reader flipping the pages as fast as they can to find out what happens next. They will definitely want to move on to book 2 to find out more. I know this reader will be!
Her imagery of St. Louis, characters, and the details of the case are amazing, placing us right in the middle. We’re helping Serena solve the mystery just like in a game of Clue.
This book is labeled a mystery and although book one doesn’t have much romance, there is a hint of it to come with a few prospects in the ring. Will it be Nate or Tanner? Readers can have a say. I love that at the end of the book, Sandra invites her readers to join the fun and cast their votes on which character they prefer Serena end up with. So, what say you? Once you’ve read the book, visit sandraorchard.com/vote-for-your-favorite/ and vote for either Nate or Tanner!
Will Harold trap the mouse playing havoc in Serena’s apartment or will he continue in his game of cat vs mouse? 🙂
I give A Fool & His Monet 4.5 paintings. It’s a masterpiece!
