She stood at the base of the mountain, peering at its snow-covered peaks. The sun’s rays bounced from summit to summit, glistening off the top of each. Swallowed up by its enormous shadow, her petite frame shivered in the cool air.

The mountain towered over everything in its sight. Nothing could compare.

Can anything be more majestic?

Her mind wandered to the pain she’d been through over the last year. Overwhelmed at each circumstance, she cowered in fear and wondered when the next bout of suffering would arrive. When would it stop?

A bird rustled by and flew into the sky, reminding her of the beauty of God’s creation and His sovereignty over every tear she cried.

His wings covered her through each one and brought her peace, even amidst the torturous pain. His unfathomable love overwhelmed her. She sunk to her knees in front of the mountain and whispered a prayer of thanksgiving.

Have you felt yourself in a similar situation? Ever been so overwhelmed at God’s love that it brought you to your knees?

There are times when we doubt and fail to see Him at work, but then it’s like the blinders are removed and we see His greatness. The majesty of His grace.

Sometimes it’s in the little things and other times it’s in the large prayer requests we offer up to Him. It doesn’t matter what we’ve done, He still loves us. I was thinking of that this week as I asked Him to forgive me for failing Him . . . yet again. How many times have I uttered that prayer? But in His mercy, He forgives. And He still loves.

Can you hear Him in the rain? Thunder? See Him in the clouds? The twinkling stars as they do a dance in the moonlit sky? Mountains? The colors of a rainbow? The eyes of a newborn baby?

Brings me to my knees.

God, You are overwhelming and I delight myself in You!

Psalm 121:1-2 (VOICE)
I look up at the vast size of the mountains—
from where will my help come in times of trouble?
The Eternal Creator of heaven and earth and these mountains
will send the help I need.

Tell us a time when you were so overwhelmed at God’s greatness that it brought you to your knees. I’d love to hear from you.
