The Girl Behind the Red Rope By Ted Dekker & Rachelle Dekker
Ten years ago, Grace and her family experience a life-changing event that stayed etched in their minds. Now living with their religious community behind the red rope, they are ruled by certain laws and if they break them . . . the consequences are severe. When her curious brother starts exploring beyond their boundaries to see what the world is like outside the ropes, Grace helps him but they soon pay for their decisions. They get caught up in good vs evil and struggle with who they can trust. Will Grace find her path in life or will it be decided for her?
The Girl Behind the Red Rope caught my attention from page one and held it throughout. Ted Dekker never fails to create mind-boggling fiction and teaming up with his daughter Rachelle proved to be a powerful combination! I love the good vs evil battle in this book. It leaves the reader with lots to think about. Who do we put our trust in? The One who created us or in someone posing as a sheep?
The imagery used throughout puts the reader right into the community the authors have created. You can picture the town and its buildings, plus the areas outside the red rope boundaries. The emotional mastery is amazing and pulls the reader in.
The characters were well crafted. Some you love, some not so much. The plot was well thought out and kept me reading. This duo are master storytellers and it shows in this novel. I certainly hope they continue to team up.
I give The Girl Behind the Red Rope five stars. Hold onto your hat as you might lose it on this ride!
