Award-winning Publishers Weekly Best-selling Author

There’s something about darkness that unsettles us. It creeps in, silent and suffocating, distorting reality and stirring fear. It’s the unknown, the chaos, the pain. But light? Light pierces. It reveals. It heals. And it always—always—wins.

In my novel Echoes of Darkness, I explore this powerful contrast through the eyes of a heroine caught in a dangerous investigation that pulls her into the shadows of her past. As secrets surface and danger escalates, Constable Oaklynn Brock finds herself surrounded by both physical and emotional darkness. But even in the bleakest moments, a thread of hope shimmers. That thread is light—not just any light, but the unshakable light of God.

This battle between light and darkness isn’t just fictional. It’s real. We face it daily. Maybe your darkness looks like grief, betrayal, anxiety, or uncertainty about the future. Maybe you’re walking through a valley that feels never-ending. But here’s the truth we so often forget: darkness doesn’t stand a chance when light enters the room.

John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” That promise is woven through every page of my novel. The characters struggle with loss, doubt, and buried secrets, but as they lean into God’s presence, His light begins to break through—offering clarity, courage, and peace.

So how can we shine God’s light in our own dark moments—or in the lives of others?

  1. Speak truth.
Darkness thrives on lies: You’re not enough. You’ll never heal. You’re alone. But God’s Word counters every lie with truth. When we speak Scripture over our situations or share it with someone hurting, we shine His light.
  2. Love boldly.
Light doesn’t hide. It shows up—especially when it’s inconvenient. Whether it’s a kind word, a listening ear, or a meal delivered to a struggling friend, small acts of love can blaze brightly in a hurting world.
  3. Stay close to the source.
We’re not the light—God is. But when we stay connected to Him through prayer, His Word, and community, we reflect His brilliance. Just like the moon reflects the sun, we can reflect His hope to others.

In Echoes of Darkness, danger closes in. Shadows grow thick. But Oaklynn and Caleb both learn that no matter how deep the night, the light of truth—and God’s love—is stronger. That’s the heartbeat of the story. And it’s the heartbeat of our faith.

Are you walking through your own echo of darkness right now? Know that God’s light is not a flicker—it’s a flood. It’s steady and fierce. And it’s chasing you, ready to illuminate every corner of your heart.

Let’s be bearers of that light. In a world growing dimmer, even the smallest spark can change everything. (Click to tweet)
