It’s a special day here in Canada, so I’m taking a break from my regular “What if” series, plus posting today! It’s July 1st – Canada Day!
Right now the Canadian flag in our back yard is flapping in the gentle breeze. It got me thinking about our country. As we celebrate Canada’s birthday, what comes to your mind? Freedom? Bravery? Or…just another day off?
Do we take our beautiful country for granted? Unfortunately, there are times when I think we do. We live in a place we should be proud of. We’re free! What more could we ask for?
Just look around you. What do you see? From the Rocky Mountains all the way to the beaches of Prince Edward Island. Coast to coast – our nation is one of beauty and we need to be proud! Are you?
Today, my husband and I spent some time at the beach, relaxing and enjoying God’s creations (well, maybe not the seagulls!). Tonight we’re going to take in some fireworks. It’s just nice to know we can do it in freedom.
Let’s show our patriotism and raise our flags! Enjoy our magnificent country!
How are you celebrating our nation’s birthday? Share in the comments section.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
P.S. To my American friends, have a blessed 4th of July! Happy Independence Day!
I was in Port yesterday . . . meeting with an editing client. Today, we’re walking down to Pinafore Park after supper to take in the fireworks. I appreciate the freedoms we have, including the freedom to worship freely, being Sunday and all. Happy Birthday, Canada . . . and Happy Independence Day on the 4th to our neighbours south of the border — or are they our neighbors. (grin)
The Port is such a great place, isn’t it? Love it there. Definitely lots of people dressed festive there today! I also appreciate our freedom to worship freely! Have fun at the fireworks!
Thanks for this Dar. We need to make sure that we never forget the freedom we have in Canada and also make sure the next generation completely understands as well. May we never forget the lives that were sacrificed for our freedom.. but more importantly remember the sacrifice that God made on our behalf!
AMEN sista! 🙂
Happy Canada Day right back at you! We happened to be in Philadelphia on the day and told a few people what day it was 🙂
