I know I’ve said this before, but fall is my FAVORITE time of year! Always has been—ever since I was a little girl. I guess maybe it was because my birthday is in October, but perhaps more because I love pumpkins, apples, beautiful colors, walks in the crunchy fallen leaves, sweaters, boots (of course!), and the crispness in the air after a muggy summer.
Also, Jeff and I love to go apple picking. There’s just something about picking fresh apples with your own hands. It makes them taste better, right? Ha ha! It’s become a fall favorite of ours and brings lots of memories of my Mama eating different flavors in the rows. She loved it.
Fall is also the time of year Jeff and I got married–Oct 3rd. This October will be our 23rd anniversary. Where has the time gone?
As we fall into the season of thankfulness, I stop to ponder the gifts God has given me during these interesting couple of years while the world is going through a pandemic. I know it’s been tough on us all, but I try and look for the goodness in the rubble. These past 18+ months have taught me lots, including the importance of being still. Pondering the gifts and blessings God has given me. In a world of a division of who’s right and who’s wrong, I’m thankful that no matter what—God IS still in control. Not us. I know it’s been a difficult time for all of us, but we can still find beauty in the ashes, right?
We just need to know where to look.
How about during this autumn season, we stop and listen to what God is teaching us during our journey, and ponder the gifts He’s bestowed?
And be thankful.
What are you thankful for today?
