It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted a review of a book, but friends, I just HAD to share about this unique devotional. It hit me hard and I found myself underlining a lot! This is book 1 in Joanna Alonzo‘s “My Beloved” Devotional series. Here’s a little about the book. Keep reading for my review.

The Woman in the Wilderness

The Woman in the Wilderness is a journey, yours and mine. It’s 40 days of seeking the heart of God. It’s 40 days of coming away, of allowing Him to allure you, to lead you into the wilderness and to speak gently to you.

This devotional is about your wilderness seasons, times you’ve felt Him beckon and draw you to seek out the God Who has always been with you, and yet is Someone you have to search out. Like a precious pearl buried in a field. Each day of this journey begins with the story of a woman, who is going through a fantastical wilderness in search of her beloved. She faces obstacles and meets a variety of characters. She deals with both defeat and triumph. Accompanying her part of the journey is a section called Manna, which reflects on the word of God and how her journey parallels a Christian’s life.

Every Christian in serious and ardent pursuit of Love Divine has, at some point, been The Woman in the Wilderness. If any of these resonate with you, maybe you are her too.

About the Author – Joanna Alonzo

Joanna Alonzo is an author of Christian fiction novels with grit, grace, and wonder. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from St. Louis University, but her creative leanings drew her away from software development to a career in faith and uncertainty. Her homebase is La Trinidad Valley in the Philippines, but she wanders around too much to have a permanent residence. She is a fascinated apprentice to the Greatest Storyteller of all and loves to highlight His supernatural grace in her stories. She loves having coffee chats with people, but isn’t a fan of them hugging her too much.

My Review – 5 Stars!

I loved this devotional. The author’s unique style of using a storyline followed by “manna” with the author’s reflections held my attention. Walking through the wilderness alongside the sojourner, encountering what she did hit home to me. Beautifully written. Powerful insights that gripped me. Loved this unique devotional and I’ve already bought the next two! Can’t wait to dive in. Friend, come on the journey through the wilderness. You won’t regret it!

My Beloved Devotionals

Book 2 – The Kingdom Child

Flourish in His Kingdom…

The Kingdom Child is a seed. It’s 40 days of exploring God’s heart for His children — in all our uniqueness and differences. It’s 40 days of immersing ourselves in a kingdom that is so unlike the world we live in.

This devotional is about your kingdom growth, and all the challenges and limitations that keep us from fully experiencing what it means to be a part of God’s kingdom on earth.

Each day of this exploration starts with the story of a kingdom child, who is now part of a great kingdom, getting to know its citizens. Along with each person or place she encounters is a section called Manna, which reflects on the word of God and how her experience parallels a Christian’s life.

Every Christian who has known the joy and pain of being among God’s children has been The Kingdom Child.

If any of these resonate with you, maybe you are her too.

Book 3 – The Warrior Bride

Contend for Your Destiny...

The Warrior Bride is a battle cry. It’s 40 days of seeking out God’s plans, promises, and purposes for His children. It’s 40 days of fighting the good fight of faith, for the salvation of those we love.

This devotional is about taking a stand for ourselves, our families, our cities, our nations and furthering God’s kingdom culture wherever we are, starting with our lives.

Each day of this exploration starts with the story of a warrior princess on her way to becoming a warrior bride, leading kingdom children through a city of darkness. Along with each person or place she encounters is a section called Manna, which reflects on the word of God and how her experience parallels a Christian’s life.

Every Christian crying out, “Maranatha!” and preparing for the return of the King while standing on and for His Truth is The Warrior Bride.

If any of these resonate with you, maybe you are her too.
