“Mommy, I can’t see,” Kylie said. “The turn is too big. I want to go back.”
Jessica could hear the stress in her daughter’s voice and knew tears were threatening to spill from her eight year old. Still, she stayed behind her daughter watching carefully as Kylie peddled her bike towards the bend in the street.
Being down this road before, Jessica knew it was perfectly safe. Kyle just had to take her time keeping her pace slow, but steady.
“Sweetie, you will be just fine. Keep going. The turn isn’t that big.”
Kylie’s foot slipped. “I can’t. Help!”
Jessica sped up and pulled in beside her. “Yes, you can.” Yet, she could see the look of trepidation on her face.
“But, what if I fall?” Her grip jerked causing her front wheel to waver.
Jessica smiled to give her daughter reassurance. She hated to see the pain on her face, but knew she had to learn sooner or later. She couldn’t peddle for her.
“If you fall, I’m right here. I know what’s around the corner. Just keep peddling and trust me.”
How many times have we cried out to our Father to stop the pain? That it hurt too much and we couldn’t go on. We couldn’t see around the corner and didn’t want to face it anymore.
You probably have been there. I have. It’s not easy, but God does know the big picture. He knows what’s ahead for us and simply wants us to trust Him.
I remember being in the deep crutches of pain and not being able to see two inches in front of me. How would I face tomorrow, the next hour or even the next minute? I gasped for air and God gave it to me. A bit at a time.
Breath by breath, I moved on through my pain trusting God to carry me. Guess what? He did.
Yes, even though I took one step forward and two backwards at times, I made it to the other side. I peddled slowly knowing He knew what was around the corner.
What would we do if we knew the big picture? Would we act differently? I wonder if our faith would decrease because why trust God when we know what’s going to happen? We’re in control. Right?
That’s what faith is all about. Trusting. Moving forward blindly, knowing we’re not alone.
Aren’t you glad you don’t know the big picture?
I am, because my faith grew through my pain.
My friend, keeping peddling. He WILL be right beside you and help you around the corner.
Psalm 112:7 (NASB)
“He will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”
