The Christmas Bell Tolls by Robin Caroll
FBI officer, Darren Timmons, discovers that gut-wrenching feeling a parent goes through when they’re told their child has been abducted. Only he knows what other parents don’t. The slim odds of finding a child unharmed.
And he can’t work the case.
He lost his wife to an illness. Must he also lose his only child? She has asthma and a heart condition. Her puffer is found in her coat pocket at the scene of the abduction.
Forensic investigator, Eva Langston, was trying hard to get over Darren’s rejection. When she receives a call to work the scene of an abduction, she’s shocked to learn the victim is sweet, little Savannah—Darren’s daughter. The flower girl who will also walk the aisle with Eva and Eva’s best friend on Christmas Eve.
To top things off, when the lead investigator discovers Eva and Darren dated, she’s thrown off the case.
With the stakes stacked against them, Darren and Eva, with the help of their close friends (characters from Ms. Carroll’s Justice Seekers series), go against protocol to bring Savy home.
Will Darren and Eva brave the pending storm brewing inside their relationship and the one howling outside, and find Savy in time?
The Christmas Bell Tolls by Robin Caroll is a powerful book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s suspense at its finest! Ms. Caroll has packed a great story in this 142-page novella. The conflict the characters face internally and externally keep the plot moving forward nicely.
The characters are solid and ones you want to get up and cheer for. The antagonist is more in the background but well developed and definitely creepy! I loved Eva’s female friends. They were all strong and willing to put not only their jobs on the line but their lives to save little Savy. The Christian faith is well weaved throughout the story.
This novella was a delightful read that could be enjoyed any time of year, but the Christmas Eve wedding theme was fun.
Once you open this book you will have a hard time putting it down!
I give The Christmas Bell Tolls five out of five silver bells. It’s one novella you will enjoy reading by the Christmas tree!
