Overcomer

By Alex and Stephen Kendrick

Basketball coach John Harrison (Alex Kendrick) has it all. Beautiful wife, family, a great job, and a team ready to take it all at the State championships. His dreams are coming true. In a blink of an eye, they are soon shattered when the largest manufacturing plant closes up shop. Families begin to move away, leaving his basketball dreams on the wayside. The principal of Brookshire Christian School (Priscilla C. Shirer) encourages him to coach the cross-country team. The problem? The “team” consists of one girl, Hannah (Aryn Wright-Thompson), suffering from asthma.

Hannah Scott struggles with her own journey, so when she finds out about the cross-country team, she sets out to prove everyone (including herself) wrong.

When John begins to question his identity, he’s challenged by the least likely person.

Can Hannah and John overcome their obstacles and find their identities in Christ?

Overcomer is a heart-warming movie by the amazing brothers, The Kendricks. They’ve hit it out of the park once again. I was moved by the plot and delighted by a twist.

The acting was great and there were times I was moved to tears. This is a great story of love, forgiveness, overcoming life’s obstacles, and finding your identity in Christ.

I give Overcomer five stars. Go see it in the theatre and tell your friends about it! Let’s keep this movie going.
